Since 1978 I have been in the Transmission industry. In the mid 80s I worked for a company that converted 2-wheel drive trucks and vans to 4-wheel drive. These included pickups, dump trucks, and even fire trucks. In the past I have worked for a parts company which sold transmission parts across the coountry. Also, I've owned my own shop and rebuilt transmissions, specializing in 4-wheel drive. From my experience, the Mercedes Unimog is superior in it's engineering over any other truck for it's size.
